If you have read any of my other beauty/skincare posts you know I struggled for years, as a teenager, with acne. Because of that, I was always nervous to try new products, afraid of what reaction my skin might have. But since I am lucky enough to have clear skin now and that has caused me to become somewhat of a makeup and skincare junkie. Here are a few products I have tried out over the last couple of weeks and that I am loving right now.
Rosehip Oil When I was out in San Francisco, my good friend Lauren told me about how she had been using Rosehip Oil on her skin before bed and how she was loving the results, restoring and brightening her skin. After this, I knew I had to try it for myself! While most oils are expensive I found this one at Target for under $10! (gotta love Target!) I have been using it for about a month now and I have to say, I’m sold. It is a dry oil so it doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy and I love how it calms the natural redness in my skin. I pat on a couple drops before my moisturizer and I have totally noticed a difference.
Super Pure When the Glossier Supers came out a few months ago I jumped at the chance to get serums for under $30 but at the time I couldn’t justify buying all three. Super Pure was the one I told myself I could live without because acne isn’t a huge issue for me anyone. But just my luck, I had a huge breakout around Thanksgiving (due partly to stress and a fatty/sugar diet) and I decided the time was now. I have loved both Super Glow and Super Bounce, so I knew I was going to love this one too! I was right, a little bit of this on my pimples and they disappear. It’s a shame I didn’t get it sooner. I’ve also noticed its great for hormonal acne which is something I do struggle with. I put a few drops of Super Glow on my chin and forehead and I am able to fight off the acne before it appears.
bareMinerals Foundation I am one of those girls that 1) really never wears foundation and 2) certainly doesn’t deviate from the one she has been buying for years. That was the case until I discovered this bareMinerals foundation. I almost exclusively wore liquid foundation up until now because it always seemed the most natural and dewy but boy was I wrong. When I tried on this foundation I was immediately hooked. Not only did it cover up all the unevenness in my skin, but it was also invisible leaving no powdery trace (and it has SPF15)! I was shocked. It is extremely light and I don’t feel like it is clogging my pores at all. The key is making sure you have a well-moisturized base so the powder glides on. I have to say, I might never go back to liquid foundation again, and the best part is it cost half the price!
Bobbi Brown Blush A blush that is also a bronzer/highlighter?! Count me in on the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick. I have seen this blush everywhere and since I’m not into a multistep process when it comes to my everyday look I love that this blush adds a bit of highlighter as well. The shade looks amazing on my winter skin and I know it will look stunning on a tan as well. I love how Bobbi Brown products are meant to extenuate natural beauty and I totally feel like this blush does just that!
Mario Badescu Products I found these Mario Badescu products on Nordstrom a couple months ago and thought they were too good to be true. Not only are they extremely affordable but the reviews were amazing, and so I had to try them myself. I bought the Moisture Magnet Moisturizer and the Rosewater Facial Spray and I love them both. The moisturizer is simple but also extremely hydrating and is perfect to use as the base to my bareMinerals powder foundation. The Rosewater spray I use for two things. Usually when I get out of the shower and need a little boost, (the steam can really dehydrate your skin) and I also use it when my makeup is in need of a little pick me up. It can be used to set makeup and it smells and feels amazing.
Oribe Detangler and Primer My hairstylist, Lisa, scolded me after she found out that I often use heat styling products on my hair without using a primer to protect my locks. She gave me this Oribe Detangler and Primer and I love it! Not only does it smell amazing but it also makes my hair so amazingly soft and smooth. I typically don’t use any product in my hair because it weighs down my natural curl and makes my hair feel heavy and greasy but this spray is so light. I spray 4-6 pumps into my hair immediately after I shower when my hair is soaking wet and brush it through. I usually let my hair air dry over night and then style it in the morning.
